The Coalition for Children is a non-profit organization founded by Dr. Sherryll Kraizer in 1982. Dr. Kraizer’s vision was to create an organization that would enhance the well-being of children, families, and society by providing positive and effective prevention programming in collaboration with other organizations and individuals.
The organization recognizes that the protection and support of children require the participation of everyone in the community. As such, the Coalition for Children works closely with schools, churches, foster care agencies, and other organizations to provide prevention programming that is culturally diverse and tailored to the needs of each community.
Programs provided by Coalition for Children are designed to empower children, parents, and caregivers with the knowledge and skills they need to recognize and prevent child abuse and bullying. The Safe Child Program, for example, teaches children how to recognize dangerous situations and respond appropriately, while the Take A Stand Bullying Prevention program provides schools and organizations with strategies to address and prevent bullying. The REACH, CHALLENGE, and RECOVERY life skills programs focus on building resilience and coping skills in children who have experienced trauma or other adverse experiences.
Training and consultation services are also available to individuals and organizations interested in implementing their programs. The organization also conducts research and advocacy work to promote policies and practices that support the well-being of children and families.
